Looking for a winter adventure? I recommend Sweden. Why?
Because it has a beautiful nature. Because the people are very friendly.
In winter time for the south of Sweden you can book a bus. I recommend the Flixbus, it is very cheap. For the north you have to take the train. The train is a little bit more expensive than a bus but you get to see the beautiful nature of Sweden.
You pay with Kronen in Sweden (K) – but at some places you can’t pay with cash anymore, so it’s better to have your credit card with you all the time.
I recommend Joe & the Juice – they offer you lunch, cold drinks, coffee and other hot drinks. They have a few coffee shops all around sweden. It isn’t difficult to find one. – The sandwiches are really good, you definitly have to try one (best is the Avocado sandwich – 143 K).
I recommend Espresso house – They also have a few coffee shops around the city. Very good hot chocolate and coffee. They also offer you lunch but I prefer lunch from Joe & the Juice.
Both are a cheap choice
I recommend Meatballs for the people – in Nytorgsgatan 30, 11640 Stockholm – very good meat for less money. A very busy place but a lot of fun. 125 k
I recommend La Neta – a mexican restaurant – in Barnhasgatan 2, 11123 Stockholm, city centre – For mexican food lovers the right place to be 90 k
I don’t recommend Eat in – in Hoetorget 12, 11157 Stockholm – the most disgusting food I’ve ever had, unfriendly people! 100 k
What to do:
Old Town – go and visit the Old town. it shows swedens kindness with beautiful buildings, shops, coffee shops and museums (Nobel Museum – About the Nobel prices – very interesting museum – it is on the Island when you get off from Gamla Stan -120 k)
I recommend to book a sightseeing tour on a boat – they explain a lot and show you around – 280 K
How to get around:
- U-train system is very good. You can buy a one way ticket or a day ticket (k) at the desk or a dispenser.
- From the airport I recommend to take a Flygbussarna bus. They leave every half an hour. (119 K)
Where to stay:
City Backpackers in Upplandsgatan 2A, 11123 Stockholm – just 750maway from the central station
- get free pasta
- can use the sauna for free
- you can borrow iceskates
- free coffee and tea after 11am
In the morning they have a breakfast buffet for 75 k – with lots of different choices, so much you can eat.
Sundsvall is a very lovely City with a lot of snow
I recommend the Gaffelbyn Hostel in Gustav Adolfsvägen 11, 856 40 Sundsvall – it is out of the city, just on top of the hill, a very beautiful place
I hope you enjoy your stay in Sweden! Have fun and a lovely day!
